Girl Power.

If you happen to drive around the area of Taman Tun and see about five babes (moment of narcissism!) lifting heavy furniture out, moving hefty pot plants and painting the walls of one house in the Burhanuddin area, that would be the Shurfa sisters.

...................................................................................

(above: The Shurfa girls and supermama. From left: Aida, Amnah, supermama, Azimah, Aisya. Don't be fooled by the angelic, glowy glowiness of this photo. The Shurfa girls are powerhouses.)

Meet Amnah. She's the designer and the hammerer. She hammers nails through walls with her iron fists... Ok. No She doesn't. She uses a hammer. But to go with the superheroine theme of this post, I'm gonna say she uses her iron fists. And she can conjure up 3D images of her fantastical, brilliant designs using the power of her spacial-intelligence.

Azimah Shurfa, the bride-to-be, can paint walls at break-neck speed and cook up a storm in the kitchen without losing any energy, and still have the power to travel throughout KL with her husband-to-be in search of the perfect wedding dress AND still go to work. She's a lecturer during the day, and a superheroine every other time.

Aisya Shurfa (that's me!), is the painter-extraodinaire, applying her artistic skills to the garden, the kitchen and the toilet using the powerful tool of her right-hand mind and her arms that never tire. With her power of eliminating viral bacteria, she manages to clean loos and whiten rotting walls to totally transform the toilet from a place you go to just mandi, pee and poo, to a place you go to to find inspiration.

Aida Shurfa. Everyone's faithful sidekick. She appears beside her sisters in the blink of an eye when they need her, and can conjure up bottles of water for them when they're thirsty, damp cloths for when paint gets everywhere, and broomsticks when dirt needs to be eliminated. The sisters could never survive without her.

Supermama makes plants grow, feeds the girls with her supermeals, hammers nails that Amnah can't drive through the walls, sends raging tsunamis of love through the entire household, and pretty much does everything else around the house. She's the boss, and she's the bestest, strongest supermum in the entire universe .

Yes, for the past three weeks or so, we've completely redecorated and renovated the house on our own.

No men anywhere around. Except for Firdaus. He helped a bit with the walls outside the downstairs bathroom, and he helped carry the really heavy stuff, like an old fridge and a metal cabinet that I think must've weighed a tonne and three quarters. Those Jennifer Garner-like muscles of his have come in handy after all.

You should come around some day and take a look at all the new paintings hung up, the new ceiling fan that's just been installed, the newly made-over bathroom downstairs (made-over by yours truly!), and the brand spanking new paint job in the kitchen (done under two hours by me and the bride-to-be) and the whole of the outside. Man, we girls can really WORK IT! And if we can do it, (altogether now!) so can you!

Ok, I gotta go clean the carpets now.

*Puts on superheroine voice* I've got viral bacteria to get rid of, people.

Tara!

Lots of love and energy,

from Me. :)

The power to eliminate viral bacteria? LOL! Reminds me of those advertisements where some muscly male suddenly brandishes a bottle of cleaning detergen in aid of the helpless housewife who is at the mercy of dirt! haha!

The whole time I was reading this, all I could hear in my head was the theme to Superman. Not the corny one, the cool one!

Hi steph! Oh gosh, muscular males? Well, the Shurfa Shukry household don't need any muscular males and we definitely don't have any helpless housewives around! *starts singing Destiny's Child's Independant Woman*.

Tenkoi, living room je? The bathroom lah yang paling drastik! YOUR bathroom! :)
