There

Once upon an extremely boring afternoon, I was talking on the phone with Ashli.

'I'm so flippin' bored,' I said, twirling the phone cord around my index finger.

'Yeah, I am too. That explains why we've been talking on the phone for about four hours now,' replied Ashli.

'But I'm feeling inspired,' I uttered, looking out of the window to a beautiful vivid sunset. 'I think I'm gonna write a poem.'

'About what?'

'About boredom.'

There was a moment of silence.

'Good idea, genius,' said Ashli, a hint of excitement in his unusually nasal voice. 'I'm gonna write a poem about boredom too!'

'Lets do it.'

----

Here's the poem I ended up writing, and the illustration I drew to go along with it. Enjoy. :)

---

There.

She stares out of the window

At kingdoms miles away

Her days unravel at a speed so slow

One hour seems like one day.

Her tears flood to the floor downstairs

Her fingers wrapped in webs

Her lips are as parched as her dry black hair

And the seconds slowly ebb.

She pines to plunge through rivers that flow

She desires to touch the sky

She yearns for grass between her toes

And to reach the heavens up high.

She wants to feel the wind again

She craves for the taste of air

She longs to fly to the Earth’s end

And he can take her there.

Only he can take her there.

Only he can make her soar above;

Only he can take her there.

I had allowed Saraa to read this poem first to let her criticise it. She said it's gay.

Well, yeah, if that's the way you want to look at it.

It can be a lot of things.

It can be a poem solely about boredom; about having a friend who makes you feel on top of the world; about a lover who can lift your spirits by just existing; about the pain one feels when they miss another person.

You be the judge. :)

Lots of love and lessons learned,

from Me.

It looks awesome Aisya. It really does.

The poem's lovely, but it's the picture that really stands out.
